Sound narrates itself
ATTI SONORI summer 2005 presents itself with the subtitle “ sound narrates itself” because it wants to be a festival that turns on an interest for a rather unknown genre, the melologue, but which corresponds with out aim of nearing cultivated music to other art forms.
In the melologue, if the recited script allows the audience to follow the development of the action effortlessly, and to understand the meaning of every single verse, the music doesn’t limit itself to accompanying the words, but tends to it aims to characterize the characters and the events, highlighting the psychological substratum that is innate within the text but is not expressed verbally.
Our aim therefore is to produce a kind of music that may define the outlines of a painting, where the painting is defined by the text; this music therefore proposes itself as the colouring element of the narrative, that shows us the path towards an ideal synthesis between the two subject matters, speech and music; a sound that does indeed, narrate itself.
